On September 19, 2009, admissions officers from Bowdoin College, Haverford College, Kalamazoo College and Smith College came to Shanghai to hold an information session for interested students and parents. John Thurston, Elizabeth Pandian, Eric Staab and Karen Kristof represented Bowdoin, Haverford, Kalamazoo and Smith respectively. Each college’s representative gave a short presentation about their school and took questions from students and parents about their college and the college admissions process in general. This information session was held at the Shanghai Public Library and many students and parents showed up to learn more about the unique qualities of these four colleges and U.S. liberal arts colleges in general.

All of the schools represented are selective liberal arts colleges with long histories. Bowdoin, Haverford, and Smith (an all-women’s college) are all in the northeast of the United States, while Kalamazoo is in Michigan in the Midwest. Taurus Education is honored to assist these colleges in organizing this information session and we hope that such events will encourage more well-qualified students in China to apply to colleges in the U.S.
